24 London

THE BRIEF

After having been let down my a previous party, SML Events approached us to build an multi-lingual informational site with a 3D interactive walkthrough gallery and potential to add event photos after the events for a touring art exhibition on behalf of Visit London. The event was called 24 London.

THE SOLUTION

The concept for this was a 24 hour art exhibition in London, Berlin, Milan & Barcelona showcasing 24 London artists.

This meant the site had to feature in English, Spanish, German and Italian and due to  loading time and accessibility constraints we decided to use the project as an exercise in creating rich user interactivity without the use of Flash.

The site design was provided by IAmHuman, and we were left with 24 hours to put it all together and to concept and produce the 3D walkthrough.

The gallery was built using cinema 4D and then the user paths were mapped on a large whiteboard with lots of market pen, leaving us a definitive key as to exactly how many frames would need to be produced.

Once produced these were then mapped to the directional keys using some clever PHP variables and then overlaid with HTML image maps enabling the user to walk around the gallery and interact with the images, always returning the the last viewing position.

THE FUTURE

As a result of our sucess in this task we were then asked to accompany the touring exhibition around Europe  showcasing the Shoot Experience lightbox and also as one of the 24 exhibits or art and also DJ-ing in each city a selection of ‘London’ music.

Furthermore I was asked to shoot footage in all 4 cities which upon returning to the UK was then edited  into a small promotional video for Visit London.

The event was subsequently short listed for an award on behalf of SML and Visit London.
